If God is a Spirit, why do we try and create a second spirit? Scripture says YHVH is Spirit, yet we often speak of “the Spirit of God” as if it were separate. In my opinion it isn’t. There is one Spirit, and that Spirit is Love. Scripture names many spirits: spirit of jealousy, spirit of fear, a broken spirit, a contrite spirit, even evil spirits. But the spirit of a man is his core motive, his driving force, not an emotion. In the Book of Enoch (not canon, but helpful here), the Nephilim are punished and their spirits bound to the earth. Those restless spirits are what we call demons, I wonder what there motives could be. Spirits and emotions are deeply linked. Anger, fear, envy, lust, these are not mere feelings; they are spirits.
