Yet something inside refuses to settle for the mud when the throne room door stands open. Lately I watch the church cradle sin in the arms of grace and call it mercy. Who dares argue with grace? It is the air we breathe. But grace is not a blanket; it is a blade. It cuts the chains, then hands us the sword and says, “Fight.” Bring up a brother’s sin and the chorus rises on cue: “You can’t judge me.” “Christ died for this.” True words, half-used. The same Christ who died also rose and said, “Go and sin no more.” The promise is real; the command is inseparable. We want the crown without the cross, the resurrection without the tomb.
