Eat, Drink, Be Merry

  Ecc 2:24 KJV There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

 Many Christians fall victim to a false teaching that claims YHVH's favor can be earned through good works. Counter to this point is the fact that our righteousness is offensive to YHVH, compared to menstrual rags even. 

 On the other side of this misguided spectrum we find Christians that believe that we are free from the burden of sin, meaning that we can sin with no consequences. 

 I believe that the reality falls somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

 Ecclesiastes is considered one of the wisdom books. A deep study of Ecclesiastes should be standard for anyone trying to understand how to live biblically. Solomon explains how all our pursuits either good or wicked are pointless.

 Ecc 7:16 KJV Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?

 Trying to be righteous is folly. With this simple fact we can negate the idea that our works earn favor from YHVH. This is not to say that we can be blatantly disobedient to YHVH's instructions. This is the folly of grace over everything theology. Our obedience is the fruit of our Love for YHVH and His Word.

 So what should we take away from this? Solomon goes on to remind us that all our works will be judged, good and wicked alike. He reminds us not to try to hard to please YHVH with our works but the fruits of good works are rewarding to our lives, and while bad things do happen to "good" people our works do ultimately pay off in the form of treasures in Heaven. 

 Do not worry about what you will eat, don't even worry about what you will wear, do not seek to be righteous but be cautious of being overly wicked because our works will be judged. Rather take time to enjoy this life that YHVH has given you, it is truly a gift from YHVH. Enjoy the fruits of good works and remember the wisdom of Solomon-

The answer is Yeshua

 Its no wonder that the Christian faith is dying. Every Christian seems to have the answers to life but none of them agree on what they are. What is the name of God? Is Jesus God or the Son of God? Is the Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday or seven days after the new moon? Is the new moon of the bible the full moon of today? Can we eat pork? Is the cross on your wall a graven image?
