Negative Vicarious Learning

Negative Vicarious Learning
Updated October 2025

Negative Vicarious Learning is a type of observational learning based on seeing someone performing negative actions without consequence, and so these actions then get reproduced into the observers own actions as acceptable. The scriptures warn us of NVL and how our actions can mislead someone into a sin nature (1 Corinthians 8:9).

We at this point have learned about our freedom from the burden of sin, we know that all are saved in Christ if we believe in Him. But here is where I believe the church has lost it's way. The interpretation of belief. As I have stated in previous post, I don't believe that belief is just excepting that someone existed. To believe in someone means that we trust what they said.

When my kids tell me their side of the story and I question them they will say "you don't believe me". Christ gave us instructions on how to live and demonstrated those instructions in his death. The message Christ gave us about forgiveness was never intended for us to live in sin, it was to remind us that it's never to late to do the right thing.

When Christians begin to live a life of sin without consequence they promote sin through NVL into the hearts and minds of others. Why would I live for Christ if it doesn't make a difference? Why would I choose righteousness over sin? And lastly how could this be Gods intentions?

Choosing to do Gods will over my will is the crux of the scriptures. Put God first, put others second, live for Christ because he died for you, fear not the burden of sin for you are forgiven and get your act together as best you can. When did virtues get replaced with feelings? I believe that we have been learning vicariously through media and social media negative actions that we defend with our freedom in Christ. These actions are not conducive to being the presence of Christ in this world. We are just being worldly.

Fame and money has more power over Christian lives than love and humility. The scriptures tell us to not judge one another but rather to judge ourselves, and to display within our own actions the character of Christ. It is up to us, the body of Christ, to lead as an example.  It is time we demonstrate how to live and turn the tide in this world. Let's produce some Positive Vicarious Learning and truly be the presence of Christ in this world, we are His body after all.

Eat, Drink, Be Merry

Ecc 2:24 KJV There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.  Many Christians fall victim to a false teaching that claims YHVH's favor can be earned through good works. Counter to this point is the fact that our righteousness is offensive to YHVH, compared to menstrual rags even.   On the other side of this misguided spectrum we find Christians that believe that we are free from the burden of sin, meaning that we can sin with no consequences.   I believe that the reality falls somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.   Ecclesiastes is considered one of the wisdom books. A deep study of Ecclesiastes should be standard for anyone trying to understand how to live biblically. Solomon explains how all our pursuits either good or wicked are pointless.   Ecc 7:16 KJV Be not righteous over much; neither m...

The Spirit of Love

My last post I revealed how emotions are spirits and how there are different types of spirits. There is a spirit of a man (i.e. his motives or his driving force), there is a spirit like a wind or a breathe (like an invisible force), and there is a spirit like an emotion (a feeling). My argument is that Love is a spirit but not an emotional spirit but rather a driving force. If the Holy Spirit of YHVH is Love then it would do us well to understand what Love is.  We always hear about the different types of love in the Greek. We will talk about these types of "love" but we will need to go beyond the Greek and into the Hebrew to see the Love that is YHVH. Definitions sighted from https://www.google.com/amp/s/greekcitytimes.com/2020/02/14/the-8-ancient-greek-words-for-love/ Eros (romantic, passionate love, lust) Philia (affectionate love, friendship) Agape (selfless, universal love) Storge (familiar love) Mania (obsessive love) Ludus (playful love) Pragma (enduring love) P...

The answer is Yeshua

Its no wonder that the Christian faith is dying. Every Christian seems to have the answers to life but none of them agree on what they are. What is the name of God? Is Jesus God or the Son of God? Is the Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday or seven days after the new moon? Is the new moon of the bible the full moon of today? Can we eat pork? Is the cross on your wall a graven image? What if we disobeyed our parents, does that mean I am going to die young?  Somewhere we have lost the point of the Gospel of Yeshua, The Salvation of YHVH. What does it mean to follow Yeshua? It would seem that most Christians believe it means to act like God.  The highest capacity churches are not preaching a message of repentance. The megachurches are preaching power to get health and wealth. Some by money and some by acts. Some churches teach of "the power of prayer" and "prayer circles" to see the manifestation of desires. They call these "miracles".  Some churches teach that we...
