Let all men be liars and only God be true. This bible verse rings within my head as I have recently walked away from my church. If anyone has read these post they would know that for some time now I have disagreed with the pastor at the church I was attending. The fact is that I was even promoted to associate pastor and did some Sunday school lessons and even held the pulpit for one Sunday.
I took the chance that Sunday to speak about the judgemental mindsets present in the church. I stated that if I said that homosexuality is a sin there would be people who would take offense to that and how they would try and condemn me for my opinion. I stated that the age of mercy would come to an end and that every careless word and vain action would be accounted for. I also decreed that each man is accountable for his own salvation and to do what they know is right before God. Finally I ended with the idea that a person shall judge themselves before God so that they would not compare themselves to another man, and if you find yourself righteous before God then why would you care if I, or anyone else, called you a sinner?
I was criticized for my message the following week from the pulpit by the pastor for sounding condemning and judgmental, and also I was called out for mercy enduring forever and ever. See the problem was that a short time later the very same pastor spoke from the pulpit that what we got away with last year we would not get away with this year. So what happened to mercy? Truth is that scripture says that mercy is for those whom return to the Lord, we may have a grace period to figure out our path in life but mercy is not just given to everyone.
We will all pass through the refining fire and be tested before the Lord. If what we built up remains there will be a reward but if our works burn away we will experience a loss, either way we will be saved. The pastor more recently has been attempting to position himself between the people and God, claiming that he alone hears the voice of God and that God is requiring us to obey every command the pastor demands. And its usually a special seed. Money. The question then was to ask myself what the bible says on this topic and would I truly be cursed by God if I didn't agree with the pastor.
The Word says very clearly to consider every man a liar and only God as true. Also remember that each person will be held accountable for their actions, even if it was another man that misled you. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. I was misled by this pastor and encouraged to deceive my wife, I was told that God loved me and wanted me to go hangout and drink instead of being with my wife and family. I shared secrets from my past and revealed truths about myself that would later be used to manipulate me, and it isn't even scientology. But it was my choice, no one else but me could make me drink the water. I love my wife and family and will fight with all my might to maintain this family to the bitter end. God would never set me up to fail.
No man is perfect and we are all equally flawed but when you take a position as a representative of God you will be held more accountable and thus must work harder at promoting righteousness and honor. It is for these reasons that I stepped down from the church and stepped out from under the teachings of a man, for all men are liars and only God is true.
