I dont like the phrase "I am only human", it says that we are victims and that our problems are not our problems but rather a problem with our design. I choose to take responsibility for my actions and I accept the punishment I deserve for my sin, a responsible Christian. While it is true that overcoming sin is difficult, and frankly impossible to do on our own, it is possible to overcome. When we say that we are "only human" we are not just acknowledging the fact that we are flawed we are accepting our flaws as part of our design. We are in a fallen state, surrounded by sin and born with a sin nature, but this state of being is not our created state. There was a time when we hid our shame from the world, and rightfully so, but now we boast in our sin. I hear people say "I was born this way" as a way to justify their wickedness, as if they came from the womb in their created state.
