Elohim

Understanding Christ has been one of the greatest problems for my Christian life. How can you follow someone you dont know or understand. It is incredibly hard to reconcile Yeshua when the church world contradicts what the scriptures tell us. Yeshua is the Son of YHVH, and no matter what Bible scholars claim He is not God.

There are a few verses that teach us a theology of the God head, Father-Son-Spirit. Some want to believe that YHVH is all three at the same time while others believe that YHVH changes modes into each one when needed, but do these ideas actually hold water?

Heb 1:3-4 KJV 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

We will need to explore many verses and deeply debate highly educated theologians to "prove" a new "theory" and we will not do that here. What we will do is look at a few common scriptures and arguments used to make the claim that Yeshua is YHVH. With this one argument we can debunk modalism and trinitarian theology.

Joh 14:10-11 KJV 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

When I read Yeshua teaching that he doesn't speak of himself but of the Father that dwells in Him I am unable to believe that He is the Father. It is much easier for me to believe in what the scriptures say, Yeshua is the Son of YHVH.

 Heb 1:1-3 KJV 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Here we see so much information packed into a small bit of scripture but this alone should help us see that Yeshua is not YHVH. Yeshua is the express image of YHVH, and YHVH made all things through Yeshua.

Joh 1:1-4 KJV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

This verse here is the essence of why people believe that Yeshua is YHVH. In this verse we see that the Word was with God and was God. I can't argue that this sounds like Yeshua is YHVH but with some deeper thought and more study I believe we can see past this with understanding. Yeshua is the Word of YHVH made flesh, the express image of His person, all things were made by YHVH through Yeshuas hands, thus by Him and through Him.

Col 1:15-16 KJV 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

The Son of YHVH would be like His Father and in so much could be viewed as another "god" except that a Son of God would be eternally a prince to the throne for God is eternal. Equal in every way to YHVH except that YHVH is the Father and therefore greater than the Son.

Phi 2:6-11 KJV 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Yeshua is Love just as the Father is Love. He is worthy of praise and honor but even then it is glory to the Father! Love is a Spirit, a Holy Spirit. It is this Love of the Father that we must return to just as Yeshua points us to the Father the Father points us to Yeshua.

And this leads me to the last argument that many scholars and theologians get tangled up on, Elohim.

Gen 1:1 KJV In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth.

H430

Original: אלהים

Transliteration: 'ĕlôhı̂ym

Phonetic: el-o-heem'

BDB Definition:

(plural)

rulers, judges, divine ones, angels, gods

(plural intensive - singular meaning)

god, goddess, godlike one, works or special possessions of God, the (true) God, God

Origin: plural of H433

Part(s) of speech: Noun Masculine

Strong's Definition: Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God ; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates ; and sometimes as a superlative: - angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.

Elohim is a plural word for God. It is believed by many that this proves that Yeshua is YHVH. What I think that we have demonstrated here though is that Yeshua is the Son of YHVH, heir to the throne of Heaven, equal to YHVH in glory and majesty yet submitted to YHVH and obedient unto death. True Love is to die for.

It is not a demonstration of YHVH being multiple, this is showing us that YHVH had already put forth His Spirit into Yeshua before the creation of time. Yeshua became a servant to all, His humility and Love provided a way for us to be connected to the Father again. We are the temple of YHVH.

When we believe that we are equal to YHVH we become the antichrist seated in the temple of YHVH. Yeshua who was God, left the Father in obedience, to do the will of the Father and not his own will. Never once does the scripture tells us that Yeshua is God. If we are to be like Yeshua then we must do as Yeshua does. We must stop trying to control everything in our lives and allow YHVH to work through us. Salvation comes by faith and not by works. If we trust YHVH then why do we try and control everything, would you not trust YHVH to control things?

There is a "God head" but it is not a 3 in 1 God or a changing God on the throne, there is One God, One Son, and One Spirit- Love.

The Spirit of Love

My last post I revealed how emotions are spirits and how there are different types of spirits. There is a spirit of a man (i.e. his motives or his driving force), there is a spirit like a wind or a breathe (like an invisible force), and there is a spirit like an emotion (a feeling). My argument is that Love is a spirit but not an emotional spirit but rather a driving force. If the Holy Spirit of YHVH is Love then it would do us well to understand what Love is.  We always hear about the different types of love in the Greek. We will talk about these types of "love" but we will need to go beyond the Greek and into the Hebrew to see the Love that is YHVH. Definitions sighted from https://www.google.com/amp/s/greekcitytimes.com/2020/02/14/the-8-ancient-greek-words-for-love/ Eros (romantic, passionate love, lust) Philia (affectionate love, friendship) Agape (selfless, universal love) Storge (familiar love) Mania (obsessive love) Ludus (playful love) Pragma (enduring love) P...

Eat, Drink, Be Merry

Ecc 2:24 KJV There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.  Many Christians fall victim to a false teaching that claims YHVH's favor can be earned through good works. Counter to this point is the fact that our righteousness is offensive to YHVH, compared to menstrual rags even.   On the other side of this misguided spectrum we find Christians that believe that we are free from the burden of sin, meaning that we can sin with no consequences.   I believe that the reality falls somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.   Ecclesiastes is considered one of the wisdom books. A deep study of Ecclesiastes should be standard for anyone trying to understand how to live biblically. Solomon explains how all our pursuits either good or wicked are pointless.   Ecc 7:16 KJV Be not righteous over much; neither m...
