Happiness is a lie

I hear many people talking about happiness and their pursuit of it. I am not saying that we can not find happiness, or that it doesn't exist, what I am saying is that emotions are not who we are but rather our choices are who we are.

One of the first words of wisdom that I share with people is to never make a decision from an emotional state. When we are angry we may decide to do something harmful and when we are happy we may choose to overspend in the moment but later regret that choice. The emotions have no bearing on our future but the consequences of the choices we make do.

I hear church members talking about fear as being a liar, and I agree with that completely.  We hear about the spirit of fear, and how it's not from the Lord, because fear is a self created feeling. Fear is an emotion. Choices made from fear lead to negative consequences, but fear does not dictate your choice. Emotions are a tool for your spirit to use to navigate this world, they are not the whole of your spirit. Happiness has the same value as anger or lust. We recognize the worldliness of lust and anger but for some reason we see happiness as spiritual.

What we really should pursue is YHVH, our Heavenly Father, and all His ways. Our actions, what we do, define who we are. Loyal, Honest, and Kind all have one thing in common, they are based on choices. You have to decide to tell the truth, you are not forced to. You have to choose to stay by some one's side even when you don't feel like it. You don't have to be nice and gentle to other people, you choose to be. Choices are the basis of our lives, the quality of those choices determine the quality of our lives.

The scriptures talk about the joy of the Lord. The Word tells us to be joyful even when things look there worst, because our faith is in YHVH and His promises. Understand that joy is a choice. We can be joyful no matter what is going on, while happiness is attached to a thing or an experience. We can dance and shout and applaud because we choose to, not because we must. Happiness is a feeling no different than irritation or frustration. Feelings can lead to negative choices but they don't determine our choices. As Christians we should follow the example Christ gave us in the garden, do the will of the Father even when we don't feel like it. We choose to do right or wrong. We don't feel like it. So live for God, and do what's right based on His Word no matter how you feel, it's your choice.

The Spirit of Love

My last post I revealed how emotions are spirits and how there are different types of spirits. There is a spirit of a man (i.e. his motives or his driving force), there is a spirit like a wind or a breathe (like an invisible force), and there is a spirit like an emotion (a feeling). My argument is that Love is a spirit but not an emotional spirit but rather a driving force. If the Holy Spirit of YHVH is Love then it would do us well to understand what Love is.  We always hear about the different types of love in the Greek. We will talk about these types of "love" but we will need to go beyond the Greek and into the Hebrew to see the Love that is YHVH. Definitions sighted from https://www.google.com/amp/s/greekcitytimes.com/2020/02/14/the-8-ancient-greek-words-for-love/ Eros (romantic, passionate love, lust) Philia (affectionate love, friendship) Agape (selfless, universal love) Storge (familiar love) Mania (obsessive love) Ludus (playful love) Pragma (enduring love) P...

Elohim

Understanding Christ has been one of the greatest problems for my Christian life. How can you follow someone you dont know or understand. It is incredibly hard to reconcile Yeshua when the church world contradicts what the scriptures tell us. Yeshua is the Son of YHVH, and no matter what Bible scholars claim He is not God.  There are a few verses that teach us a theology of the God head, Father-Son-Spirit. Some want to believe that YHVH is all three at the same time while others believe that YHVH changes modes into each one when needed, but do these ideas actually hold water?    Heb 1:3-4 KJV 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.  We will need to explore many verses ...

Eat, Drink, Be Merry

Ecc 2:24 KJV There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.  Many Christians fall victim to a false teaching that claims YHVH's favor can be earned through good works. Counter to this point is the fact that our righteousness is offensive to YHVH, compared to menstrual rags even.   On the other side of this misguided spectrum we find Christians that believe that we are free from the burden of sin, meaning that we can sin with no consequences.   I believe that the reality falls somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.   Ecclesiastes is considered one of the wisdom books. A deep study of Ecclesiastes should be standard for anyone trying to understand how to live biblically. Solomon explains how all our pursuits either good or wicked are pointless.   Ecc 7:16 KJV Be not righteous over much; neither m...
